ESSENCE OF IRELAND

Location:
The Orchard Theatre, Dartford
Date(s):
Thursday 30th September 2010
Time:
19:45 - 00:00
Back with a brand-new show following 2009’s triumphant performance, journey to a mystical place where Irish myths are explored through the power of music and dance. . .
A magical story unfolds as a cast of 17 combine fantastic vocals, stunning choreography, wondrous costumes and brilliant musicianship to create a dramatic, spiritual experience; superbly conjuring up the Essence of Ireland. No other show includes such a wide selection of Irish music and dance.
Offering “substantially more in the way of live music” than Riverdance - classical Celtic songs give way to Star of the County Down and Tell Me Ma, sharing the stage with Whisky in the Jar and songs from U2, the Corrs and even Boyzone!
Just as songs can range from traditional to modern day favourites – Irish Rover, Sweet Sixteen, Molly Malone and Star of the County Down can feature, then U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Boyzone’s Picture of You and songs from The Corrs – so the dance is equally diverse.
Speed and slickness of step to traditional Irish dance takes the breath away while the widest variety of dance forms imaginable get the full Essence of Ireland treatment.
"Capturing the true Essence of Ireland. . . a kaleidoscope of breathtaking choreography, superb musicianship, striking costumes, and superb presentation.
“This vibrant cast combine joyful vitality, skill and polished professionalism, and when their final bow was taken, the audience afforded them a rapturous standing ovation" - Encore Magazine
“An eclectic mix of traditional songs with more modern Irish music. . .it catered for all ages”
“Belfast native Eimear Bradley made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up” - IRISH POST
“A sparkling show that tantalises all the senses. Full of excitement, energy, and true Irish passion” – Fred Marden, BBC
