Description:
After two days of inspiration, intention setting and connection we'll send you back to city life with a customised plan to connect to nature every day, starting in your kitchen and bathroom! You’ll become a part of a like-minded community which will support you on your journey to ensure green living intentions become lifelong habits.

What to expect? We’ll start the weekend with mindfulness exercises that help you connect to your intrinsic values. Then we’ll show you how to put values into practice as we deep dive in to sustainable development goals in ways that relate to the necessities of your day to day lives – eating, drinking and keeping yourself healthy. We’ll introduce you to delicious and fulfilling ways to weave nature in to your shopping, cooking, eating and fashionista habits.

At the retreat you will:
•Master our mindfulness in the kitchen process
•Learn more about the sustainable development goals necessary to limit climate change
•Learn what you can do to help make that change happen
•Take part in a Pickling and Preserving Party using local and seasonal produce and make your own preserves to take home
•Make your own Zero Waste beauty products to take home
•Take part in a Mindful Kitchen Zero Waste Sunday Lunch workshop
•Enjoy the peace of the countryside along with meals prepared for you by The Mindful Kitchen
•Leave with a workshop binder that includes your personal plan for weaving what you’ve learned in to your day to day life

The workshop fee of 350 pounds is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner and your accommodation at Witherden's Hall as well as the two day workshop during which you will produce a goodie bag full of pickles, preserves and beauty items along with your personalised Mindful Kitchen Sustainable Living Plan.

So what does it mean to have a ‘Mindful Kitchen’? In a nutshell, it’s knowing your food and where it comes from, appreciating its complexity and connecting with what you can’t see.

Being mindful of the people, plants, animals and natural resources that produce every bite of food you eat, enables you to eat with conscience, focus on foods that promote biodiversity, lower your carbon footprint and reduce waste.

Conservation through conversation! What better way to tackle climate change than to connect with nature and ultimately each other? And what better way to do that than to share a meal!

Step into The Mindful Kitchen…

The women behind the concept are Heather Thomas and Marian Reed. Their journeys started in Fairport, New York and Philadelphia respectively. Heather grew up in the kind of place where she passed the farms her food came from on her way to school. Marian grew up in the kind of home where her Italian grandmother made sure no food ever went to waste.

Throughout their lives they both nurtured a passion for nature, sustainability and FOOD! Eventually they both decided to dedicate their lives to helping folks eat their way to happiness and unsure as to how to do that, they both found their way to Copenhagen Business School, where their paths crossed. By the time they had their MBAs in hand, they had a plan: The Mindful Kitchen was born.

Initially they opened a sustainable eatery in Copenhagen, (learned a lot about the concept of ‘hygge’!) and sensing their customers wanted to learn how to cook mindfully in their own homes, developed workshops in food sustainability.

From preserving parties, to cocktail classes to zero waste Sunday roast workshops they invited people in to their kitchen for a dose of inspiration. Realising that’s how they could really make a difference, they closed the doors to their restaurant in spring 2016 to focus 100% of their time on mindful foodie education.

Today that foodie brain fodder is brought to people all over the world, in person and online, via their practical hands-on workshops and events, online courses and even in the comfort of your own home or workplace.

Online courses start from £50 for five weeks and their sell-out workshops cost from £35. There are four seasonal workshop experiences, each hosted at Ace Hotel. The courses take the workshop experience a step further, helping you to customise a plan to your own lifestyle and eat more mindfully every day. Alternatively experience the Mindful Kitchen in your own space with friends or colleagues. For further information or to book, contact The Mindful Kitchen at www.themindfulkitchen.org.
