Sittingbourne's Mediæval Mops Fair

The Sittingbourne Retail Association is holding a Mediæval Mops Fair in the centre of Sittingbourne on Saturday 20th September 2014. It will run from 11 o’clock in the morning until 5 o’clock in the evening.
Our town is steeped in history – there are records of a five-day Fair being held in Sittingbourne in the 16th Century, and in the Middle Ages our town was a bustling hive of activity, for traders, farmers and travellers.
The Mops Fair will bring to life the history of the town, and celebrate its growth throughout the Middle Ages, into one of the major agricultural areas of the South East.
We will bring you entertainment, with bands, musicians, actors and shows, and fairground attractions; we will bring you hot and cold food from today and yesterday, and from all over the world; we will bring you a market full of goods from traders and craft-makers of all kinds.
We will make the town look the part – we will dress some buildings in Mediæval facings, and performers, traders and organisers will dress in Mediæval Clothing.
